Alluvial gold is primarily concentrated in the sand‑and‑gravel layer at the riverbed’s bottom, requiring multiple processing steps to wash and separate the gold from the sediment. The primary tool used for gold panning is the sluice boat, which is professionally engineered; larger models are even equipped with automated sand‑washing systems that can achieve a purity of up to 80%.
Crush
Typically, coarse crushing is carried out using a jaw crusher; following this initial comminution, a cone crusher is employed for further size reduction, and finally, a short-head gyratory crusher performs the fine grinding. Only through the coordinated operation of multiple pieces of equipment can relatively pure gold be extracted.
Flotation
Concentrates are processed at specialized smelters. During the smelting of these concentrates, flotation and mixed flotation are typically employed, yielding high recovery rates. In the flotation process, the primary challenge is managing the fine‑grained tailings. Because freshly mined ores contain a very high proportion of fines, inadequate handling can compromise the purity of the final concentrate during mineral purification.

Process flow: Ore is loaded onto the feeder by a loader (excavator), and the feeder delivers it uniformly to the washing tank. High-pressure water jets in the tank wash the ore, which then enters a vibrating screen. Material smaller than 0.6 cm is sent to an automatic washing and sorting machine, while material between 0.6 and 1 cm is thoroughly cleaned in a grading screen before being fed into equipment for recovering larger gold particles. Ore larger than 1 cm is washed and discharged. The fraction below 0.6 cm is processed in the automatic washing and sorting machine, where mud, fine sand, and other impurities are removed and further refined. The heavy minerals are then conveyed by this machine to a six‑stage gold concentrator for the final concentration step. The entire system is equipped with an electrical control panel, enabling operation by a single operator.
